Frequently Asked Questions
What is the check-out period for books and magazines?
Books are checked out for three weeks and magazines are checked out for two days. Students who need them for a longer period of time may have them re-checked.
How many books can I check out?
Students are allowed to have two library items checked out. In order to check out a new book, students must return any overdue items. Students who need more than two books at one time should check with the media specialist. Exceptions may be made in the case of class assignments or projects requiring additional materials.
Is there a fine for late-returned items?
Late books and magazines are assessed a 5-cent per day fine. Days that school is not in session, such as weekends, holidays, parent-teacher conference days, etc, do not count in determining fines.
What about lost or damaged books?
Students are responsible for paying for books that have been lost or damaged beyond repair. Students who have lost a book should notify the Media Center as soon as responsible so that late fees will not continue to accrue.
Do you take suggestions for new books?
Yes! We welcome suggestions from students and faculty for new books to purchase. Please put your suggestion in writing and give to Mrs. Price or Mrs. Lawson.
What about Accelerated Reader and Star Reading?
Accelerated Reader quizzes and Star Reading tests are given in the Media Center. Any student computer may be used. Please sign in before taking an A.R. quiz. You will need to check with Mrs. Price or Mrs. Lawson before taking a Star Reading test.
