The town of Geary is located in Blaine County at the junction of U.S. Highway 270 and 281. It is located 50 miles northwest of Oklahoma City.

The community's name is derived from the name of the famous Indian scout, interpreter and Sand Creek Massacre survivor Edmund Guerrier.
Two schools serve students in the Geary School District: Geary Jr-Sr High School (grades 7-12) and Geary Elementary School (PreK-6th grades).
