Danella Buchanan

Middle School English

I remember the first book that I learned to read when I was 3 years old: Dr. Seuss's Alvin K. Mooney, Would You Please Leave Now?!? Thus began my love for books and the written word.  Born as the second child of three, I would continue to learn from an older sister and soon instruct a younger brother in all things mischievous.  Little did I know that those interactions would shape my character in to the teacher I am today.

I graduated high school from Fort Cobb-Broxton in 1998 as Co-Valedictorian and with Cum Laude Honors from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2002 with a B.A. degree in English and Spanish Education.  For the next 16 years, I taught  English, Spanish, and Adult Basic Education/ESL classes for Anadarko Public Schools in Anadarko, Oklahoma.

In 2018, I came to teach at Geary Elementary.  I enjoyed working with 4th and 5th grade, as well as sponsoring Boys and Girls Club.  My love for our community youth continued to grow.  In the fall of 2022, I had the privilege to serve as the Response to Intervention (RTI) instructor at the Middle/High School buildings, working to strengthen students' math and literacy skills.  The following year, an opportunity arose again to advance with previous students to serve as the Middle School English teacher.

It is my joy and pleasure to motivate and inspire future generations to become the best version of themselves.   Go Bison!
