SYMBOLS
Symbols, which have long been a part of mankind's culture from classical art, literature, religion, and science to today's modern concepts of marketing and advertising, can be found everywhere. The 9th grade English class studied a particular set of literary symbols which include elements, colors, shapes, numbers, and directions. Students read about, discussed, and took notes on the various meanings relevant to those symbols found in classical and modern literature. To put what they learned into practice, students were required to create a personal coat of arms which represented their personalities, beliefs, and heritage. A minimum number of each symbol category had to be present on the coat of arms.
